Longshore The Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act covers work-related injuries and occupational diseases sustained by workers engaged in maritime employment including any longshoreman or other person engaged in longshoring operations, and any harbor-workers including a ship repairman, ship builder, and ship breaker. Injuries may be caused by a single event or repetitive activity on the job. Benefits are paid regardless of fault. Many issues can arise under this Act including the proper compensation rate, the nature and extent of disability, lost wage earning capacity, causation of the disability, need for treatment, etc. Employers and their insurance carriers don't always have the injured worker's best interests in mind when processing these claims. It is important to know your rights in these cases. Under the Longshore Harbor Workers Compensation Act, attorney fees and costs are paid by the employer/insurance carrier if we are successful in getting you benefits not previously paid. There is no charge for a consultation with our office. |
